AT THE PRESIDENT'S
ARCHITECTURAL COUNCIL
Astana, kazakhstan, 6-8 April '10
On April 6-8, 2010, Gabriele Tagliaventi has been invited by the Astana Masterplan Office to participate as President's Architectural Expert to the President's Architectural Council in Astana.

The Council had the goal to evaluate the development of the new capital city of the Republic of Kazakhstan and to assess proposals for several public buildings such as the Kazakh Theater, the Russian Theater, the Kazakh Historic Museum, etc.
An important Masterplan for the development of a series of urban neighborhoods around the new High Speed Railway Station has also been approved.

After the presentation of the report to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbajev, the International Expert Team, including Jijjas Bin Kasturi and Jury Platonov, presented their assessment to the Mayor of Astana and to a crowded Press Conference on April 8, 2010. The Mayor of Astana has also requested Gabriele Tagliaventi to prepare a report on the new Millennium Axis in Astana.

Among the 250 entries, the Scientific Committee of the Philippe Rotthier EUROPEAN PRIZE 2008 has selected the 88 new urban neighborhoods that have participated in the final stage of the Prize on June 13, 2008 at the FOUNDATION FOR THE ARCHITECTURE in Brussels.
The 88 selected neighborhoods come from 30 European countries and from big cities such as Lisbon, Bilbao, Paris, London, Glasgow, Bruxelles, Berlin, Dresden, Bologna, Palermo, Tirana, Istanbul, etc., as well as from beautiful medium-size cities such as Santiago de Compostela, Hammamet, Gladbeck, Alessandria, Hoje Tarstrup, Knokke, Dorchester, Brandevoort, etc.
